Day 1: PALANGKA RAYA – TUMBANG MANGGU
Pick up from airport and transfer direct to Tumbang Manggu by car (approx 4 hours). On arrival, a welcome ceremony will be performed before a simple lunch and time to settle into your room at the longhouse for a rest. Later join the family of the longhouse for dinner. Gather after dinner to talk with the elders about the history of this longhouse and everyday life here, the culture and traditions.

Day 2: JUNGLE WALK – MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
After breakfast, a local guide will take you trekking in the forest near the longhouse to see ironwood or rubber tree plantation areas. See how to take latex from the trees and listen to the Dayak agricultural philosophy. After lunch together at the longhouse with the family, visit the village burial boxes or sandungs, scattered throughout the village. Also visit a Kaharingan (the Dayak traditional religion) temple. Enjoy the evening with musical performance and dance. Learn some stories behind some particular dances and play traditional music instruments. [B/L/D] Simple accommodation in the Longhouse
Day 3: PALANGKA RAYA – HOTEL CHECK IN
After breakfast, visit the local school and meet the children. After a snack, we return to the longhouse to pack the bags and say goodbye to the people of the longhouse. On arrival in Palangka Raya, check into your hotel and enjoy a swim.
Day 4: PALANGKA RAYA – START CRUISE
Meet at Palangka Raya airport and transfer your boat in Palangka Raya harbour to start your journey. Cruise past the stilted and floating houses of the provincial capital and continue upriver along the forest lined river, passing villages. In the early evening, take a canoe through the shimmering black water lakes. Keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and Brahmini kites. Return to the boat for a quiet dinner in the midst of the jungle.[L/D]
Day 5: BAPALLAS ISLAND – SEI GOHONG
The boat moves up the Rungan River as you enjoy breakfast. On arrival to Bapallas Island, take a motorised canoe to observe orangutans.Then continue to the BOSF Education Centre where adult orangutans are waiting to be placed on the pre-release islands. Learn about the BOSF rehabilitation programs.
Return to the boat and enjoy a leisurely lunch on board as we cruise to the village of Sei Gohong. Board small canoes to observe orangutans on nearby Kaja Island. As the heat cools, we transfer to short distance to Tangkiling Hill to walk up for a panoramic view of the area, and spot the boat below in the harbour.
Back to the boat and cruise down to Lake Tahai. Overnight. [B/L/D]
Day 6: SEI GOHONG – KANARAKAN – MUARA RUNGAN
Optional early morning forest walk with the traditional medicine expert to find plants that are used as traditional medications by the Ngajus. Back to the village and see a larger collection of the traditional medicines and discuss their functions with the locals.
Leisurely breakfast on board as the boat passes the orangutan pre-release island of Pulau Kaja, continuing while cruising to Kanarakan, a tiny riverside village on the Rungan River. On arrival, we are welcomed by the village elder with Dayak Ngaju welcoming ceremony then stroll around the village with a local host to see the village home gardens, rubber field & rubber tapping demonstration, and other village livelihoods. Visit to the elder’s house and enjoy the traditional spices coffee while sharing stories.
Return to the boat for the cruise downstream. After lunch, relax and enjoy the cruise down stream to Muara Rungan passing Katimpun village.

Day 7: MUARA RUNGAN – BUKIT RAWI – PALANGKA RAYA
This morning we transfer to the tiny old village of Bukit Rawi to visit a traditional rattan weaver and to stroll around the village. We will also see their bonehouse or sandung and learn about the Dayak history of the area.
Return to the boat for lunch and cruise to Palangka Raya harbour.
