





Day 1 PALANGKARAYA – RAHAI’I PANGUN CRUISE BEGINS
Join our beautiful boat the Rahai'i Pangun directly from Palangkaraya airport. Cruise past the traditional stilt village along the river banks of the city and upriver to Danau (Lake) Dapur. Enjoy lunch on board, keeping an eye out for proboscis monkeys, eagles, monkeys and hornbills. Have your first glimpse of orangutans on the Pulau Hampapak release island. In the late afternoon, take alkons, traditional canoes, to explore the beautiful natural black water lakes and canals. Enjoy drinks at sunset on the open viewing deck.
Day 2 RUNGAN RIVER – MARANG TO KANARAKAN
The Rahai’i Pangun journeys further up river to moor opposite Pulau Pallas, BOS (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation) release island, to observe the orangutans at feeding time in their natural habitat. Enjoy lunch on board as the boat journeys up river, passing another orangutan release island, Pulau Kaja, to Kanarakan village. Walk through the village with a local host to see how people live and work in these isolated communities. Canoe ride in lakes and return to overnight near the village.
Day 3 KANARAKAN TO TANGKILING
The boat makes its way down stream, again passing Pulau Kaja, to the port of Tangkiling. Transfer to the BOS Orangutan Foundation’s Education Centre in Nyaru Menteng. Accompanied by experienced technicians, observe baby orangutans behind glass in the socialization cages and watch a film of BOS projects in Central Kalimantan. Transfer by car to Tangkiling Hill to see the village ‘patahu’ at the sacred Batu Banama rock, and then to climb the hill for a view of the vast, flat flood plains and catch the sunset. After this, return to the boat for dinner and quiet mooring on the river.
Day 4 TANGKILING – PANKALANBUN – KUMAI - TANJUNG PUTING
0400 depart Tangkiling port for Pankalanbun by charter car
1300 approx time arrival in Kumai for transfer to Rimba Lodge by boat
The boat is a traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 12m by 2m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide's team includes the boatman, a cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon we will slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the monkeys along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat. simple mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar - helpful guides and boatmen.
Day 5 CAMP LEAKEY – BOAT/LODGE
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up river for about 2½ hours boating and then up a side creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest and also known as research center for Orangutan. Trekking through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, wild orangutan, birds and other primate as well as tropical jungle plant. Back to the boat for lunch then witness feeding time at 14.00 pm for old rehabilitation orangutan given additional foods. Overnight at Rimba Lodge.
Day 6 PONDOK TANGGUY – PESALAT – TANJUNG HARAPAN - BOAT/LODGE
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up the river for Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans,see feeding time at 09.00am. Hike through the forest of Pondok Tanggui searching for wildlife including wild orangutan, birds and others. Afterward continuing the trip to Pesalat reforestation camp. See the process of reforestation project. Afternoon visit Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation center to witness feeding time for rehabilitated orangutans at 15.00. Free afternoon program, we could visit village near by the park, enjoy canoeing around the river. Overnight at Rimba Lodge. (Additional program, night walking around Pesalat or Pondok Tanggui searching for nocturnal animal or blowing mushroom.)
Day 7 TANJUNG PUTING – KUMAI – DEPARTURE TO AIRPORT
Boat returns to Kumai. Taxi transfer to the airport
Tour ends.
