Longhouse Adventure Trek
and Jungle Camping
Accommodation and food is simple

Day 1:     Speedboat journey along the Katingan to Tumbang Manggu village, to a new longhouse of traditional construction, built by traditional Dayak elder, Bp Syaer Sua, whose forebears originated from the ancient, remote Gagu longhouse, which will become the focal point of our adventure.

Day 2:     Truck, trek and canoe your way to the upper reaches of the Katingan River to discover the isolated longhouse of Gagu, where life and time seemingly stands still.        

Day 3:     Explore this unique ancient longhouse and its surroundings.  Overnight in the longhouse and share in the lifestyle and stories of the community.

Day 4:     Hike back to Katingan River for your jungle camp overnight.

Day 5:     Canoe downriver to the rapids of Riam Mangkikit, a holy Kaharingan site, and continue to Kasongan and Palangka Raya by 4WD.

Tour including transport to and from airport or hotels, guides, simple homestay accommodation, all food while on trip, simply prepared. Basic accommodation and food are provided by longhouse owners.

Excluding airfares to and from Central Kalimantan, travel insurance, porters, personal expenses

NB Due to low water levels during the dry season July-October, some upper river excursions may be made by road transport or alternative river craft.
