Bamboo Rafting in LoksadoDay 1: Leaving Palangkaraya early morning, this tour takes you overland to the city of Banjarmasin, 4 hours distant. Straddling the mouths of the great Barito and Kapuas Rivers, Banjar is a town of many canals and waterways. The afternoon will be spent in Martapura area watching traditional diamond mining, exploring the markets and admiring the historic paintings and artifacts, including the magnificent golden throne of bygone local Rajahs in the Museum. Return to Banjar and check in to your riverside hotel. Day 2: Early morning join a traditional long boat for a tour of the floating market, where traders bring all manner of fruits and vegetables for sale. Later explore the canals to glimpse a different view of the city from the waterways. See the boardwalks, the stilted and brightly painted houses, Mosques, eagles overhead, simple boat yards where wooden klotoks and bis air are still being built in traditional ways and the many and varied river craft plying the waters. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Mid-morning begin your journey north to Kandangan, and beyond, on hilly and winding roads, to the tiny hamlets of Malaris and Loksado in the Meratus mountains. See a waterfall and traditional life in these villages, before checking in to Lodge in Loksado for the night.
Day 3: After a simple breakfast, join villagers in collecting bamboo and lashing it together to make simple rafts. Enjoy poling down the down the pretty Amandit River, lined by tropical rainforest. Enjoy a trek from the Lodge, to see longhouses, and hanging bridges. Overnight in Lodge.
Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast, return to Banjarmasin, passing the village of Pandak Daun to see water buffaloes. Return to Banjarmasin for transfer to the airport and your next destination.
